On May the 4th, 2020, Shout! Factory TV presents “May the Farce Strikes Back,” their second annual all-day sci-fi movie marathon!
May the Farce Strikes Back features classic sci-fi features from the ‘70s and ‘80s such as Battle Beyond the Stars, StarCrash, Space Raiders and iconic space favorites from Mystery Science Theater 3000, such as Space Mutiny, Fugitive Alien + Fugitive Alien II. These B-movies came hot off of the heels of the massive success of the Star Wars franchise, from the minds of filmmakers such as Roger Corman, Eiji Tsuburaya and Luigi Cozzi.
In addition to the movie marathon, sci-fi nerd and film buff Brendon Small, from adult swim's Home Movies and Metalocalypse, will be hosting an interactive Chat Along for Battle Beyond the Stars on the Shout! Factory TV Twitch Channel.
Brendon Small has been creating content in the space-opera genre with his project GALAKTIKON, which follows the adventures and trails of space pilot Triton and his robot sidekick T1T5. The project includes 2 full-length albums, a six issue miniseries and trade paperback comic and a Roger Corman inspired short film produced with Funny or Die, which stars David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man, The Dark Knight), Steve Agee (Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2, The New Girl) and the late Jill Janus from the heavy metal band Huntress.
From Brendon Small, “I’ve always loved Roger Corman’s movies; however, the more I studied him, the more I learned about his philosophies of producing and conceiving bigger projects. He’s a big influence on me and I don’t think I’d have taken GALAKTIKON as far without him. Also he’s in Silence of the Lambs which is very, very cool.”
